What is Staecnon-RJ?
Staecnon-RJ is a trade union representing workers in the sanitation sector (water and sewage), based in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, in the interior of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Its full acronym is Union of Workers in the Water Purification and Distribution Industry and in Sewage Services of Campos.
Its history began in 1932 as a working-class sanitation worker organization movement through a cooperative, becoming a professional association in 1961 and, in 1964, a union recognized by the Ministry of Labor. Today it represents workers in the sector in 26 municipalities in the North and Northwest Fluminense regions.
Who can become a member?
Any worker, male or female, or service provider, linked to a sanitation company (water and sewage treatment) located in one of the 26 municipalities within the territorial base of Staecnon-RJ can join the Union.
