Awareness campaign marks World Water Day in Macaé

Last Friday (March 22nd), Cedae Macaé promoted an awareness campaign that had a great impact on Macaé society. The project was the result of an initiative by the manager, André Oliveira, and the coordinator, Leroy Williams, who mobilized together with other employees to distribute hundreds of native Atlantic Forest tree seedlings, personalized gifts, and also provided a drinking fountain with chilled water, served to passersby in the city center.

The event also featured a mini water treatment plant, which served to give spectators a brief demonstration of the step-by-step process of water collection and treatment until it reaches household taps—a procedure unknown to the vast majority of the population.

The project was a partnership between Staecnon/RJ and FRUSE, which readily accepted the invitation to participate in the initiative. Vice-president Josemar Violante and director Juarez Bernardino were present representing the union, where they had the opportunity to offer their contributions by interacting with the community and informing them that water is a public good and essential to life. "I would like to congratulate the organizers on this initiative; we all need to be aware of our role in preserving water and the environment!" said Josemar.

Every year, World Water Day is celebrated on March 22nd, a date created by the UN General Assembly in 1993 with the aim of raising public awareness about the importance of water and its preservation.
