Another day of activity with the presence of STAECNON-RJ at the bases in Rio das Ostras and Trajano.
STAECNON-RJ remains steadfast in its grassroots mission, reinforcing the motto "Union Present". This Tuesday (January 13th), continuing the work begun last week at the Rio+Saneamento units in São Fidélis, Natividade and São José de Ubá, the board carried out a new series of strategic visits. This time, the action reached the units in Rio das Ostras ("1001", Avenida Brasil and ETE Marilea) and the municipality of Trajano de Moraes.
The meetings were attended by president Josemar Violante and base director Robson Dantas. The main objective was to update the workers on the current status of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The process, which has been dragging on since May 2024, faces serious challenges due to the company's stance, making the unity of the category the fundamental element for the success of the negotiations.
A History of Challenges in Negotiation
The union's mobilization began back in May, even before the base date, with the formal delivery of the list of demands. However, Rio+Saneamento took about 120 days just to schedule the first official meeting. Currently, the process has already exceeded 180 days of negotiations without a favorable outcome. Aiming to strengthen the representative power of the category, STAECNON-RJ adopted the strategy of unifying the demands with the unions Sintsama-RJ and Sindágua-RJ.
Critical Points: Financial Impacts
During meetings at the workers' bases, the union detailed the significant gap between the workers' actual needs and the proposals presented by the concessionaire. The main financial sticking points revolve around:
Minimum Wage and Adjustment : The pursuit of real wage increases that go beyond simply compensating for inflation.
Subsistence Benefits : Profound disagreements regarding adjustments to meal vouchers, basic food baskets, and breakfast allowances, items that the union considers important for maintaining purchasing power.
Social Issues and Rights at Risk
Beyond economic issues, the board warned about social clauses that the company is trying to make more flexible or that still do not meet the demands of the workforce:
Childcare Assistance : The fight is to ensure that this benefit is guaranteed to all employees, men and women, without distinction.
Advance payment of the 13th salary : The impasse regarding application deadlines persists, with the company attempting to impose advance periods that hinder the worker's access to the benefit.
Guarantee of Rights : The agenda advocates for maintaining full food allowance during absences due to illness or accident, preserving school material assistance for all, and strict compliance with CIPA (NR5) regulations, guaranteeing the right to reelection.
Total Mobilization for 2026
The goal for the start of this year is to intensify the discussion so that Rio+Saneamento presents a different proposal. "The union will continue the fight so that the daily effort of those who make sanitation happen is not ignored," stated President Josemar Violante during the visits. The strategy now is one of total mobilization, preparing the way for a future unified assembly that will define the next steps in the negotiation.
