STAECNON/RJ is present at a session in the Chamber and intensifies the fight for water in Cardoso Moreira.
City Council President Jô do Pires received representatives from STAECNON/RJ and the Popular Front in defense of public water in his office.
This Tuesday (06/05), the STAECNON/RJ Union participated in another mobilization, as part of the "Popular Front in Defense of Public Water" , which was held at the Cardoso Moreira City Hall. The event, which had significant popular participation, highlighted the growing dissatisfaction of the population regarding the possible "privatization" of CEDAE and the potential risks of precarious sanitation in the municipality.
Despite the formal request from STAECNON/RJ to use the platform on behalf of the Popular Front, the speaking opportunity was granted exclusively to Dr. Fernanda, representative of the CIDENNF Consortium, who limited herself to defending the privatization model under discussion. This lack of plurality in the debate prevented crucial technical questions from being presented to the public and workers, generating great discontent among those present.
The Speaker of the House, Jô do Pires, conducted the session with great composure, seeking to calm tempers and ensure respect for institutional norms. His diplomatic approach was essential in preventing further conflict, although it was not sufficient to guarantee complete impartiality in the debate as required by the House guidelines. However, the Speaker demonstrated openness to promoting a broader dialogue in future sessions.
Dialogue with the Speaker of the House strengthens negotiations.
In a gesture of commitment to transparency, President Jô do Pires received representatives from STAECNON/RJ and the Popular Front in his office, including the union president, Josemar Violante, directors José Guilherme and Fernando Soares, and fellow activists Marcelo Lombardi and Donizete de Paula. During the meeting, relevant technical data on the risks inherent in privatization were presented, in addition to important demands that were not addressed during the session. In response, the councilman pledged to broaden the dialogue on the topic among council members and in future legislative agendas, paving the way for the issue to reach the municipal executive branch.
The expectation is that the entire population will have access to accurate information about the proposal presented by the CIDENNF Consortium and the alternative that CEDAE can offer, in accordance with Law No. 14,026/2020 of the Basic Sanitation Legal Framework, intensifying investments and achieving the established goals, as has been the case in the municipalities that have already renewed their contracts with CEDAE.
